Back before I had my children, I had not believed I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mum, chatting to other parents about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to talk about the most recent baby outfits we have purchased.

I more often than not get together with 2 other parents, once a fortnight, to find out the latest happenings. We generally meet at Subway of Yorktown (which is in YORKTOWN, IN) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was particularly interesting seeing we chatted about baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby girl organic meals from the start but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has damaged ecosystems and especially water ways. Organic produce is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic clothes means you are getting produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, fewer cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Several wholesalers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find wholesalers completely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to older children. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I am not saying that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
