Before I had my children, I never believed I would join a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, talking to other women about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the newest baby fashions we have purchased.

I generally go out with 3 other parents, once a week, to catch up on the latest gossip. We generally meet at Cinnamon Patch (which is in VIDOR, TX) as that is quite central for all of us. I have been providing my baby girl organic produce from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in America and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and in particular water supplies. Organic produce is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic clothes means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.

Many producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find companies solely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
