Organic Baby Clothing UNION

Back before I had my first child, I never really believed I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am finally a mum, chatting to other parents about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to chat about the most recent baby outfits we have bought.

I usually go out with 3 other mothers, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest gossip. We often meet at Union (which is in UNION, WA) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was more interesting as we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby boy organic food from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the world and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and particularly water ways. Organic cotton is produced without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Purchasing organic clothing means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, reduced diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.

Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers entirely committed to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to teenagers. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.

  1. Love organic clothing for all your reasons. I would suggest doing some homework about bamboo clothing before you endorse it. Bamboo is a sustainable resource, but takes many chemicals to turn it into fabric. Best of luck!
