Organic Baby Clothing THE COLONY

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 27-08-2008

Long before I had my first child, I never really thought I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mum, being able to talk to other women about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby outfits we have picked up.

I more often than not get together with 2 other parents, once a month, to catch up on the latest happenings. We usually meet at Cicis Pizza (which is in THE COLONY, TX) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was more exciting as we talked about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic produce from the beginning but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the US and one of the most ruinous to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and particularly water ways. Organic cotton is produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

You can buy beautiful organic baby clothing online from a number of shops. Sckoon has some of the cutest organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Buying organic produce means you are purchasing clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or less use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, fewer cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.

Quite a few wholesalers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers completely devoted to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
