Back before I had my baby, I never really believed I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to talk about the newest baby outfits we have picked up.

I usually get together with 4 other mothers, once a month, to hear about the latest gossip. We generally meet at Bob Evans Farms Restaurant (which is in SHAWNEE MISSION, KS) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was particularly interesting as we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby organic food from the beginning but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in America and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farmers. Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Buying organic clothes means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic items or you can find retailers completely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever it is available.
