Organic Baby Clothing SANFORD

Before I had my baby, I never believed I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mother, being able to talk to other parents about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have picked up.
I usually get together with 3 other women, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest happenings. We often meet at Weathervane Seafood Restaurant & Market (which is in SANFORD, ME) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was more eye opening seeing we discussed baby clothes. I have been giving my baby boy organic meals from day one but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and particularly water bodies. Organic produce is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.
Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic products means you are buying products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, less cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
A number of producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find shops completely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I do not think that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever it is available.
