Organic Baby Clothing ROCKFORD

Before I had my children, I never really believed I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mum, being able to talk to other women about what is happening in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to talk about the newest baby outfits we have picked up.

I generally get together with 2 other parents, once a week, to hear about the latest gossip. We often meet at Atlanta Bread Company (which is in ROCKFORD, IL) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was more eye opening because we chatted about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby boy organic produce from day one but it had never crossed my mind to buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the world and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and especially water ways. Organic products are grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic produce means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or reduced use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and rivers, fewer diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic items or you can find stores solely devoted to organic baby fashion. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to older children. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever it is available.
