Organic Baby Clothing ROCHESTER

Back before I had my first child, I never really thought I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the most recent baby outfits we have picked up.

I more often than not go out with 3 other parents, once a fortnight, to find out the latest happenings. We often meet at Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers - Area OFC (which is in ROCHESTER, NY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was more interesting because we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby organic food from day one but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from these farms has destroyed ecosystems and especially water ways. Organic cotton is produced without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Buying organic products means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, less cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find shops completely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are catered for, from babies to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
