Long before I had my baby, I never really imagined I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am a mother, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we like to talk about the latest baby clothes we have picked up.

I more often than not get together with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest gossip. We often meet at New Wing Hing Chinese and American Restaurant (which is in NORTHVILLE, MI) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was really eye opening seeing we chatted about baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby organic produce from the start but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged habitats and especially water bodies. Organic products are produced without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Buying organic produce means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, fewer cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Many wholesalers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find wholesalers solely devoted to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to teenagers. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
