Long before I had my first child, I never imagined I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to talk about the latest baby outfits we have bought.

I generally go out with 4 other women, once a month, to find out the latest new. We generally meet at Paradou (which is in NEW YORK, NY) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was more exciting because we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby boy organic food from day one but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in America and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farm workers. Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic clothing means you are buying produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and lakes, fewer health problems for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Quite a few producers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic items or you can find designers completely devoted to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from babies to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am absolutely going try to whenever I can.
