Organic Baby Clothing MERRIMACK

Back before I had my children, I never really thought I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mother, chatting to other mothers about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to chat about the latest baby outfits we have purchased.

I more often than not meet with 4 other mothers, once a week, to catch up on the latest happenings. We usually meet at Ya Mamma's (which is in MERRIMACK, NH) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was really interesting seeing we discussed organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby boy organic produce from the start but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in America and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and especially water bodies. Organic produce is grown without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic produce means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or less use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, fewer diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Many retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers solely devoted to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to teenagers. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I do not think that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
