Organic Baby Clothing ISLIP

Back before I had my first child, I never really thought I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mum, talking to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the most recent baby clothes we have purchased.
I more often than not go out with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to find out the latest happenings. We generally meet at Cafe' Nuvolari (which is in ISLIP, NY) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was more interesting seeing we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby girl organic food from the beginning but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in the US and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic produce is made without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.
Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Buying organic clothing means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or reduced use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and lakes, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.
A number of producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find wholesalers completely committed to organic baby fashion. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I am not saying that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
