Organic Baby Clothing HUFFMAN
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 18-05-2008
Before I had my baby, I never really imagined I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I have become a mother, talking to other women about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the latest baby outfits we have purchased.
I usually meet with 3 other parents, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest gossip. We often meet at Cedar Landing Marina (which is in HUFFMAN, TX) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last time was really interesting as we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic food from the start but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic products are made without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.
Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Getting organic clothing means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.
Several makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find companies completely devoted to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from babies to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I am not saying that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever it is available.
