Organic Baby Clothing GRAND RAPIDS

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 14-04-2008

Before I had my children, I had not imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mother, chatting to other mothers about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to discuss the latest baby fashions we have purchased.

I generally meet with 3 other mothers, once a week, to catch up on the latest gossip. We often meet at Giovanni's Pizza (which is in GRAND RAPIDS, MN) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was more eye opening seeing we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic meals from the start but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and in particular water bodies. Organic produce is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic produce means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or less use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, fewer diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.

A number of wholesalers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic items or you can find designers completely devoted to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I am not saying that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am absolutely going try to whenever I can.
