Back before I had my children, I had not imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mum, talking to other women about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to chat about the newest baby outfits we have purchased.
I generally go out with 2 other mothers, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest gossip. We usually meet at Ayutla Restaurant (which is in GOLDENDALE, WA) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was particularly exciting as we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby organic meals from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in America and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and in particular water supplies. Organic cotton is made without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Purchasing organic produce means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, less health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.
Several producers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find designers completely committed to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I do not think that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.
