Organic Baby Clothing EUGENE

Back before I had my baby, I never really believed I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mum, chatting to other mothers about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the most recent baby clothes we have picked up.

I more often than not go out with 3 other mothers, once a month, to catch up on the latest new. We often meet at Cozmic Pizza (which is in EUGENE, OR) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was more eye opening seeing we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby organic produce from the beginning but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the world and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farmers. The run off from these farms has destroyed ecosystems and in particular water supplies. Organic produce is produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic products means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Several makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic items or you can find designers entirely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to teenagers. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
