Organic Baby Clothing DURHAM
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 08-03-2010
Long before I had my baby, I never really believed I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am a mother, being able to talk to other parents about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to talk about the newest baby outfits we have picked up.
I more often than not get together with 3 other parents, once a month, to hear about the latest happenings. We usually meet at Dog House (which is in DURHAM, NC) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was more eye opening as we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby girl organic meals from the start but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from these farms has damaged ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic cotton is made without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.
You can get beautiful organic baby outfits online from a number of retailers. Sckoon has some of the cutest organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Getting organic clothes means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or less use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, reduced health problems for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Many makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find companies entirely committed to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I am not saying that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever I can.
