Organic Baby Clothing DEER PARK

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 11-04-2008

Long before I had my baby, I had not imagined I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a mum, chatting to other parents about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to talk about the most recent baby clothes we have picked up.

I more often than not get together with 3 other women, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest happenings. We often meet at Chung Wah Kitchen (which is in DEER PARK, NY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was really eye opening because we chatted about baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic meals from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in America and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed habitats and particularly water supplies. Organic produce is produced without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic clothing means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or reduced use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, reduced cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Many retailers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find companies entirely devoted to organic baby fashion. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
