Organic Baby Clothing COLUMBIA

Long before I had my baby, I had not imagined I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a mum, chatting to other women about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to chat about the latest baby fashions we have picked up.

I generally go out with 3 other parents, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest happenings. We usually meet at III Cheers (which is in COLUMBIA, MO) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was particularly interesting as we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby organic food from the beginning but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farmers. The run off from these farms has ruined habitats and particularly water supplies. Organic produce is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

You can purchase beautiful organic baby clothing online from a number of shops. Sckoon has some gorgeous organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic clothing means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or reduced use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our land and rivers, fewer diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find wholesalers entirely committed to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to older children. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
