Long before I had my children, I never thought I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a new mother, talking to other women about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. Getting organic products means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, reduced diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.
