Long before I had my baby, I had not thought I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a mum, being able to talk to other women about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to discuss the latest baby outfits we have bought.

I more often than not get together with 2 other mothers, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest new. We generally meet at Kevin's Hamburger Heaven (which is in CHICAGO, IL) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was particularly eye opening as we discussed organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby girl organic meals from the start but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most ruinous to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and especially water ways. Organic products are grown without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Buying organic clothes means you are getting produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, reduced cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.

A number of makers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic items or you can find companies solely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to older children. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I am not saying that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
