Organic Baby Clothing CHARLOTTESVILLE

Before I had my children, I had not believed I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mother, talking to other parents about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have picked up.

I generally go out with 3 other parents, once a week, to find out the latest gossip. We generally meet at Doubletree Hotel Charlottesville (which is in CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was particularly interesting seeing we discussed baby clothes. I have been providing my baby boy organic food from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and especially water bodies. Organic produce is grown without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

You can buy organic cotton baby apparel online from a number of stores. Sckoon has some gorgeous organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Purchasing organic clothes means you are purchasing clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, reduced diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Many makers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic items or you can find retailers entirely devoted to organic baby fashion. Either way, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am definitely going try to whenever it is available.
