Before I had my first child, I never thought I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mum, talking to other parents about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the newest baby outfits we have picked up.
I generally get together with 3 other mothers, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at MT Fuji Restaraunt Corporation (which is in CENTEREACH, NY) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was more eye opening seeing we discussed baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby organic food from the start but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in America and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and particularly water bodies. Organic cotton is grown without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Purchasing organic produce means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and rivers, reduced diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.
Many producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find shops entirely devoted to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to adolescents. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I do not think that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am absolutely going try to whenever it is available.
