Back before I had my children, I never really believed I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, talking to other women about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to chat about the newest baby fashions we have purchased.

I usually get together with 2 other parents, once a month, to find out the latest gossip. We usually meet at Papa Louie's Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria (which is in BROOKFIELD, OH) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was particularly eye opening seeing we chatted about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby boy organic produce from day one but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in the world and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and especially water ways. Organic products are grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Buying organic produce means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or less use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, fewer cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers entirely committed to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever it is available.
