Before I had my baby, I had not imagined I would join a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, chatting to other mothers about what is happening in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to chat about the newest baby outfits we have purchased.

I generally go out with 3 other women, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest gossip. We generally meet at Bruce Lees Wings (which is in BALTIMORE, MD) as that is pretty central for all of us. I have been giving my baby girl organic meals from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in the world and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and in particular water ways. Organic produce is produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic clothing means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, reduced cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers completely devoted to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I do not think that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
