Long before I had my children, I had not thought I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a mother, chatting to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have purchased.
I generally get together with 2 other women, once a fortnight, to find out the latest happenings. We often meet at Cats House of Sports (which is in AURORA, CO) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was really eye opening seeing we discussed organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby boy organic meals from the beginning but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most ruinous to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed habitats and particularly water ways. Organic cotton is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Buying organic clothing means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or less use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our land and waterways, reduced diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
A number of producers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothing or you can find companies solely committed to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to older children. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I do not think that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
