Organic Baby Clothing AMERICUS
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 03-08-2008
Long before I had my baby, I never really imagined I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a mum, being able to talk to other women about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to chat about the most recent baby fashions we have bought.
I more often than not go out with 2 other parents, once a week, to hear about the latest new. We usually meet at Rib Rack (which is in AMERICUS, GA) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was really eye opening as we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby organic produce from day one but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in America and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined habitats and especially water bodies. Organic produce is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.
You can purchase organic baby clothing online from a number of shops. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic produce means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Many producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find designers solely committed to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to older children. Naturally, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I would not go as far to say that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
