Long before I had my children, I had not thought I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, talking to other parents about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the newest baby outfits we have picked up.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the world and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed habitats and in particular water supplies. Organic cotton is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic clothes means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or less use of insecticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, reduced health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Many wholesalers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find stores solely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
