Organic Baby Clothes WESTBROOK

Long before I had my children, I had not thought I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mum, being able to talk to other mothers about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to talk about the newest baby clothes we have bought.

I more often than not go out with 2 other parents, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest new. We often meet at Bill's Seafood Restaurant (which is in WESTBROOK, CT) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was particularly interesting as we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby boy organic meals from the beginning but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in the world and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and especially water ways. Organic produce is made without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic clothing means you are buying products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or less use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and waterways, fewer diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.

A number of makers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothing or you can find stores solely committed to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to older children. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am without a doubt going try to whenever I can.
