Back before I had my baby, I had not thought I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mother, chatting to other parents about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to chat about the newest baby clothes we have bought.

I generally get together with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest happenings. We generally meet at Gamefish (which is in TETON VILLAGE, WY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was really exciting seeing we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby organic food from day one but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in the US and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from these farms has ruined the environment and particularly water bodies. Organic products are grown without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic products means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or less use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and rivers, reduced diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Several producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find shops solely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to adolescents. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
