Before I had my baby, I had not believed I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mum, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to chat about the most recent baby fashions we have bought.
I more often than not get together with 3 other parents, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest gossip. We often meet at C & Z Restaurant Corporation (which is in SUNNYSIDE, NY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was really exciting seeing we talked about baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby boy organic meals from the start but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from these farms has damaged habitats and in particular water supplies. Organic produce is grown without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Purchasing organic produce means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or less use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.
Quite a few producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find stores entirely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I would not go as far to say that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
