Before I had my baby, I had not believed I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am finally a new mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to chat about the most recent baby outfits we have bought.
I usually go out with 2 other women, once a week, to find out the latest gossip. We usually meet at Deli Express (which is in SOUND BEACH, NY) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was really exciting as we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby girl organic food from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most devastating to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from these farms has destroyed the environment and particularly water ways. Organic cotton is grown without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic products means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or less use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, fewer health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Several retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find shops completely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I am not saying that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
