Long before I had my baby, I never really believed I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a new mother, talking to other women about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to talk about the latest baby clothes we have purchased.
I generally meet with 3 other parents, once a week, to catch up on the latest gossip. We generally meet at Hot Dog Place West Inc (which is in SCHAUMBURG, IL) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was particularly eye opening because we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby girl organic food from the beginning but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the US and one of the most ruinous to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from these farms has ruined the environment and especially water ways. Organic cotton is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic insect control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Getting organic clothes means you are buying produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, less diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Many producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find stores entirely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to teenagers. Of course, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I would not go as far to say that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
