Organic Baby Clothes SAN FRANCISCO

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 23-10-2009

Long before I had my first child, I never really imagined I would join a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, talking to other mothers about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to talk about the newest baby fashions we have picked up.

I usually get together with 4 other women, once a fortnight, to find out the latest happenings. We usually meet at TIEN Fu On 24th Street Restaurant & Bar (which is in SAN FRANCISCO, CA) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last time was really interesting seeing we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby girl organic food from day one but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in the world and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and in particular water bodies. Organic cotton is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control methods.

You can purchase soft organic cotton baby clothing online from a number of retailers. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Buying organic clothes means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or less use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Many makers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothing or you can find stores solely committed to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
