Organic Baby Clothes ROMULUS

Long before I had my children, I never really thought I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mum, chatting to other women about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have purchased.

I generally get together with 3 other parents, once a month, to hear about the latest new. We generally meet at Express Gourmet (which is in ROMULUS, MI) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last time was particularly exciting as we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic produce from the start but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the US and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and particularly water ways. Organic produce is produced without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic produce means you are buying products which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or reduced use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, reduced cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.

Several producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find companies solely committed to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I am not saying that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
