Back before I had my first child, I never really imagined I would join a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is taking place in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to chat about the newest baby outfits we have bought.

I generally go out with 3 other mothers, once a fortnight, to find out the latest new. We often meet at Bread Alone Bakery (which is in RHINEBECK, NY) as that is fairly central for all of us. I have been providing my baby organic produce from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Getting organic produce means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or reduced use of insecticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.

Many wholesalers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find companies completely devoted to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to older children. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I am not saying that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever it is available.
