Organic Baby Clothes PORTLAND

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 29-03-2010

Long before I had my first child, I had not imagined I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mother, chatting to other mothers about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to chat about the latest baby clothes we have purchased.

I more often than not meet with 2 other parents, once a month, to find out the latest happenings. We generally meet at Pizza Luna (which is in PORTLAND, OR) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was really exciting because we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby girl organic food from the start but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the US and one of the most devastating to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and in particular water bodies. Organic products are produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control methods.

You can buy organic cotton baby clothes online from a number of shops. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic produce means you are getting products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, reduced health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.

Several producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find wholesalers solely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to older children. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
