Organic Baby Clothes PITTSBURGH
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 02-07-2008
Before I had my baby, I never really thought I would join a mothers group. However, now that I am a mum, talking to other parents about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we like to talk about the most recent baby outfits we have purchased.
I generally get together with 4 other women, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at Mcdonald's Hamburgers - North Hills (which is in PITTSBURGH, PA) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was particularly exciting as we chatted about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic meals from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in the US and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has destroyed habitats and especially water supplies. Organic produce is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.
You can buy organic cotton baby apparel online from a number of shops. Sckoon has some gorgeous organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Purchasing organic clothing means you are buying products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or reduced use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and lakes, less cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Many producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find companies completely devoted to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I am not saying that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
