Organic Baby Clothes OVID

Back before I had my first child, I had not imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mum, chatting to other mothers about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to talk about the most recent baby outfits we have bought.
I generally meet with 3 other mothers, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest happenings. We often meet at Red Dot Deli & Cafe (which is in OVID, NY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was really interesting as we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic meals from day one but it had never crossed my mind to buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the US and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and especially water ways. Organic produce is made without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.
Benefits of Organic Clothing
Getting organic produce means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, less cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Several wholesalers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find shops entirely devoted to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to older children. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I do not think that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
