Organic Baby Clothes NEW YORK

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 07-04-2009

Long before I had my first child, I never thought I would join a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mum, talking to other women about what is taking place in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to talk about the most recent baby outfits we have purchased.

I usually get together with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest happenings. We generally meet at Au Bon Pain Inc (which is in NEW YORK, NY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was more interesting seeing we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby boy organic food from day one but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined the environment and especially water supplies. Organic cotton is grown without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

You can buy organic baby apparel online from a number of shops. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Purchasing organic clothes means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Several wholesalers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothing or you can find stores entirely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to adolescents. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am without a doubt going try to whenever I can.
