Organic Baby Clothes LIVINGSTON

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 12-07-2009

Back before I had my baby, I had not thought I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am a mum, chatting to other women about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to chat about the most recent baby fashions we have picked up.

I more often than not go out with 4 other parents, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest happenings. We generally meet at Tuttofresco (which is in LIVINGSTON, NJ) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was really interesting as we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby organic produce from day one but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in the world and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has ruined habitats and in particular water supplies. Organic cotton is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

You can buy soft organic cotton baby clothing online from a number of stores. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic produce means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, less health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.

Many makers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find stores completely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to older children. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
