Organic Baby Clothes LISLE

Long before I had my first child, I never believed I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am a mother, chatting to other women about what is taking place in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby outfits we have bought.

I more often than not get together with 2 other mothers, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest new. We often meet at Deli Moretti (which is in LISLE, IL) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was really interesting seeing we discussed organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby boy organic produce from the beginning but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in the US and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has damaged the environment and especially water bodies. Organic products are produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Purchasing organic produce means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or reduced use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.

Many producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers completely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to teenagers. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I am not saying that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.
