Organic Baby Clothes LANSING

Back before I had my baby, I never thought I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mum, talking to other mothers about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to talk about the most recent baby fashions we have purchased.
I more often than not go out with 4 other women, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest gossip. We often meet at Jeepers (which is in LANSING, IL) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was particularly interesting seeing we chatted about baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby organic produce from day one but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular crops in the US and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has ruined the environment and in particular water supplies. Organic produce is made without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.
Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Buying organic clothes means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or less use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.
Many makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find stores entirely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.
