Back before I had my baby, I never believed I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby clothes we have bought.
I usually meet with 2 other parents, once a month, to hear about the latest new. We often meet at Honeybaked Ham Company & Cafe (which is in LAFAYETTE, LA) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last month was particularly exciting seeing we chatted about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic meals from the start but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular products in America and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic cotton is produced without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Getting organic clothing means you are purchasing clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or less use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, fewer diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Many retailers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find companies completely devoted to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Naturally, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I am not saying that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am absolutely going try to whenever it is available.
