Organic Baby Clothes KEMAH

Long before I had my baby, I never really thought I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to chat about the newest baby clothes we have picked up.

I generally meet with 4 other women, once a week, to find out the latest happenings. We generally meet at Bay & Block Ice (which is in KEMAH, TX) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was more interesting as we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby boy organic meals from the beginning but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in America and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from these farms has ruined ecosystems and in particular water ways. Organic cotton is produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic clothes means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or reduced use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, reduced cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Several producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find designers solely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
