Back before I had my baby, I had not believed I would be part of a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I have become a mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to talk about the latest baby fashions we have bought.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in America and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and particularly water ways. Organic cotton is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic produce means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, fewer health problems for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.

Several producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find shops completely committed to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
