Back before I had my baby, I had not thought I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mother, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to talk about the latest baby outfits we have bought.

I generally go out with 2 other mothers, once a fortnight, to find out the latest happenings. I have been giving my baby boy organic meals from the start but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in the US and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farmers. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic products means you are getting products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or reduced use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, less diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.

Many retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find wholesalers solely devoted to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to adolescents. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
