Before I had my baby, I never really believed I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a new mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we like to discuss the most recent baby clothes we have purchased.

I usually go out with 2 other parents, once a month, to hear about the latest gossip. We generally meet at Johnnys Pizza King (which is in GRAND RAPIDS, MI) as that is quite central for all of us. Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most ruinous to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and particularly water ways. Organic produce is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Getting organic products means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, fewer diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Many producers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers entirely committed to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from babies to adolescents. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever I can.
