Before I had my first child, I never really imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am finally a mum, chatting to other women about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have purchased.

I have been giving my baby organic meals from the start but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in the US and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and particularly water supplies. Organic produce is grown without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic clothing means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or reduced use of insecticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and waterways, reduced cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Many wholesalers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers solely committed to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from babies to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
