Organic Baby Clothes FAIRFIELD
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 11-10-2009
Before I had my first child, I had not thought I would join a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mum, chatting to other women about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby clothes we have picked up.
I generally meet with 2 other parents, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest happenings. We usually meet at Liana's Trattoria (which is in FAIRFIELD, CT) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was really eye opening seeing we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby girl organic meals from day one but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the US and one of the most ruinous to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from these farms has destroyed the environment and particularly water supplies. Organic cotton is made without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.
You can buy organic baby apparel online from a number of shops. Sckoon has some beautiful organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Buying organic produce means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or less use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, fewer cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.
A number of makers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers solely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to older children. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I do not think that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
